Welcome to the 10th European Craniofacial Congress in Göteborg, Sweden, 2015!

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

In June 2001, Göteborg (Gothenburg) hosted the 9th International Congress on Cleft Palate and Related Craniofacial Anomalies. The congress was very successful and the weather was very good, leaving a lasting memory of the Swedish west coast and the city of Göteborg.

It is now a great honour to host the 10th European Craniofacial Congress in Göteborg this year. We hope that the congress will be just as successful. The European Craniofacial Congress is well known for its interdisciplinary approach to the field of cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies. “Increasing Interaction within the craniofacial team” has therefore been the leading theme during the work of the organizing committee for the congress.

Participants from a whole range of disciplines will be represented at the congress. There are more than 400 abstracts, oral presentations and posters, as well as more than 60 invited speakers in different symposia covering all aspects of craniofacial treatment. This will hopefully make this congress a great opportunity for delegates from different disciplines to share their experiences and increase the interaction between the craniofacial teams in Europe and internationally. The scientific arena of this meeting is therefore of fundamental importance for improvement of the care and treatment of cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies.

We hope that all of you – representing almost every country in Europe and many other countries in the world – will find this a great opportunity to improve our international communication even more.

This congress will hopefully also be the ideal opportunity to start ECPCA, the European Cleft Plate and Craniofacial Association, which would be an important tool to widen the interaction between craniofacial teams in European countries (as well as globally). This European association could also be an authority for collaboration in research and a platform for consideration of important clinical issues linked to improvement of cleft palate and craniofacial treatment in Europe. We have organized a social program for you, with a Welcome party, a Summer evening, and a Swedish midsummer party – a taste of what the west coast of Sweden and Göteborg can offer socially during the traditional celebration of midsummer!

The organizing committee in Göteborg welcomes you and wishes you a scientifically interesting time with unforgettable social interaction and an enjoyable midsummer experience.
